Last Saturday night I was over in Bristol performing magic on stage at Smoke and Mirrors. This is a great venue; it’s a bar with a difference. In the back is a small theatre where every week a couple of stage magicians can perform their acts to a small yet enthusiastic crowd.
Most times when I am booked as a close up magician or stage magician, the audience do not know ahead of time there is a magician at the event. At Smoke and Mirrors, everyone has pre-booked their tickets and are at the show because they want to see a great magic show.
With most of my work being magic at a corporate event or private party, it’s nice to do a public show. It also makes a welcome change to be doing stage magic instead of close up magic for an event. There is nothing quite like the thrill of being on stage and having a crowd of people gasp, laugh and applaud.
